Michael B. Berger is a senior partner in the firm of Berger & Berger. He graduated in 1973 from the SUNYBuffalo School of Law. He was admitted to the practice of law in New York State in 1974. He has practiced in the area of Immigration Law since 1975. Mr. Berger has developed over 30 years of experience in the area of Immigration & Nationality Law. His practice includes all aspects of Immigration & Nationality Law from business visas and waivers to deportation and visa processing as well as waivers for foreign medical graduates wishing to immigrate to the United States. Mr. Berger has been recognized for his outstanding achievement in the practice of Immigration Law by the following national and local organizations:New York Area's Best Lawyers, Buffalo's Business First "Who's Who in Law," and The Best Lawyers in America. He is also a member of National Register's "Who's Who in Executives and Professionals" and Strathmore's "Who's Who" where inclusion is limited to individuals who have demonstrated leadership and achievement in their occupation or profession. William H. Berger heads up the Atlanta, Georgia office of Berger & Berger. He received his B.S. from the State University of New York at Buffalo, his M.A. from the University of Illinois Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations and his J.D. from Cornell Law School. Mr. Berger is retired as a trial and appellate attorney from the U.S. Department of Labor, after 27 1/2 years, where he served as Senior Trial Attorney, Counsel for Employment Discrimination Law and Deputy Regional Solicitor in the Atlanta Regional Solicitor's office.
Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Lee M. Sobieski, Esq. is now a partner in the firm of Berger, Berger, & Sobieski, having been with the firm for a total of over three and a half years. Mr. Sobieski graduated in 2010 from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law. He was admitted to the practice of law in New York State in 2011. He has practiced with the firm in the area of Immigration Law for a total of over three and a half years. Mr. Sobieski practices all aspects of Immigration Law, including both Family-based and Employment-based visa applications, in addition to handling the bulk of the firm’s removal matters in the Federal Immigration Court. In addition to being a member in good standing of the New York State Bar Association, and the Erie County Bar Association, Mr. Sobieski is also an active member of the Young Lawyers Section of the New York State Bar Association, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, or AILA, for short. Mr. Sobieski has also served regularly as a Volunteer / Pro Bono Attorney for the Volunteer Lawyers Project, on behalf of tenants appearing in front of Buffalo City Court, for eviction matters, since June of 2016. Additionally, Mr. Sobieski has given various presentations in the field of Immigration & Nationality Law at Buffalo State University, in Buffalo, New York, and has previously served as a Volunteer Evaluator for the first round of the February 2011 National Trial Competition, at Buffalo City Court, in Buffalo, New York. He has lived in the Buffalo area nearly all his life, and is proud to call this area home.
Kelly Cipolla is a Paralegal in our employment-based immigration section. Ms. Cipolla joined Berger & Berger in 1999. She obtained a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences Interdisciplinary Programs with a concentration in Legal Studies from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1999. Her work focuses on permanent labor certification applications, physician J-1 visa waivers, second and third Preference immigrant petitions, including Physician National Interest Waivers. Ms. Cipolla also has experience in preparing H-1B non-immigrant petitions.
